Our mission

Put more live music in more rooms.

There is a thing that happens in a room when a band is on and the crowd is with them. Laughing, drinking, singing along, strangers turning into a crowd. Recordings never capture it. It only exists live, and it only exists when a performer and a room manage to find each other.

Right now that finding is done through cold emails, group texts, and luck. Bars go quiet on nights they could be full. Bands sit home on nights they could be playing. Fans miss shows that were three blocks away.

Rasmot fixes the finding. Performers find gigs that fit their act and their radius. Venues and businesses find talent, book it, and publish the show in one motion. Fans find what's happening nearby tonight. Payment stays between the venue and the performer — we stay out of the way.

The name

Two old words for one new thing.

Rasa

Sanskrit · रस · "essence, feeling"

The oldest theory of live performance we have. Written down over two thousand years ago in the Nāṭyaśāstra, rasa names the thing that passes between a performer and a room — literally "juice," "taste." Not the notes, not the words: the feeling that lands. A show without rasa is technically correct and completely forgettable. A show with it is the night you still talk about.

Mót

Old Norse · "a meeting"

The word behind moot and the Althing — people gathering at an appointed place because something worth showing up for is happening there. Not a crowd; a gathering on purpose. The same root that gave the north its assemblies gives us a word for a booked, confirmed show.
